The Scarab Club is proud to host an exhibition of photographs by students of local photographer and educator, S. Kay Young. Young has curated the work of students she has taught and mentored in two local organizations, MORC, Inc. and SHAC P.A.C. MORC is a premier community resource providing services and support for individuals with developmental disabilities in southeast Michigan.

Sharing her passion for photography as an art form with adults with autism and other special needs is very important to Young. In 2014 the locally produced series, Detroit Performs, won an Emmy for the segment featuring Young and her students.

CLOSE-UP SERIES
BRIAN OSCAR: DISTANT ANCESTORS
Thursday, August 20th-Sunday, September 13th

Brian Oscar a New York native, Detroit local visual and multimedia artist. His work is reflective of human relations and their relationship with the surrounding environment. Exploring the nature and condition of humans from a contemporary view in today’s age.

The exhibition explores the relationship between our present and the gaze upon generations past. We are often like our ancestors more than we may know, sharing similar experiences, likeness, and spirit. This show will explore these ideas through portraiture to bridge the gap between the present and where we originate.
