CMSC opens its 18th season with a concert featuring chamber works by Mieczyslaw WEINBERG, composer of The Passenger, and the premiere of a new piece by Steven MERCURIO. Maestro Mercurio, the conductor of MOT’s production of The Passenger, will also be the guest speaker for this program, providing insight into the music of Weinberg, the opera, and Mercurio’s own new work, Paronomasia, A Quartet for Clarinet, Violin, Cello and Piano in Three ‘Acts’.

The Scarab Club is proud to partner with Michigan Opera Theatre on MOT’s project exploring the history, artistry, and relevancy of the Holocaust-themed opera The Passenger (November 14-22 at the Detroit Opera House). Performed to commemorate 70 years since the liberation of Auschwitz, the opera urges us to remember victims of genocide and to recognize the humanity of all our fellow passengers on life’s journey.
