His art has been featured on several covers of Metro Times, Between The Lines, and as content for Detroit Free Press, Detroit News, Ann Arbor Press, A&U and Detroiter magazines. This is his fourth Scarab Club exhibition.

Alexander graduated as a commercial art major from Cass Technical High School inn 1955. He has been a member of Detroit’s LGBT rainbow community since 1956, and the recipient of a Spirit of Detroit Award for his AIDS art donation fundraising.

He also writes a weekly column, Parting Glances, for Between The Lines. He celebrated his 80th birthday in May, and was reelected for his second term as as a Scarab Club Board member in June.

He says: “[It is] The product of an inner dimension, with its own dynamics and tensions, my art is both familiar and alien. It keeps me alive.”
