Featured at this Detroit Funk Blues will be Deondre Charelle (P-Funk) on guitar. Charelle collaborated with Parliament-Funkadelic before fronting his own band. He now steps out of that role to join in this celebration of Funky Blues. Tony Strat P Funk Thomas will also be on guitar. Tony has worked with George Clinton and The P Funk Allstars, as well as projects such as Jimmy G and the Tackheads and Kiddo. T Money Green began his career in Detroit as Bass player for the Dramatics. Green soon joined up with George Clinton to work on the release Motor Booty Affair. Dean Ragland has played drums on many releases, including those of George Clinton, Parliament Funkadelic and P Funk Allstar. Phil Hale, on Keyboard, has been working with Detroit’s best musicians and can frequently be found backing Detroit’s “Queen of the Blues” Thornetta Davis.
This band will focus the Funk/Blues traditions in Detroit and how those traditions relate to broader music histories in Detroit. The Detroit Blues Society is a 501(c) 3 non-profit dedicated to the preservation, education and advancement of the Blues tradition as it relates to the Metro Detroit area.
