Music at The Scarab Club

Chamber Music at the Scarab Club presents six concerts per season at three different venues in the metropolitan Detroit area, including the Scarab Club. The instrumentation varies for each program, driven by repertoire that ranges from traditional to contemporary, with an emphasis on unusual and rarely performed works. Informal, intimate spaces encourage a close rapport between audience and performers.

The Scarab Club’s historic Pleyel piano is the star of a recital series at the club. Hear beautiful music and help raise money for the continued care and maintenance of this historic French instrument built in the 1870s. This is the same make of piano that was the favorite of Frederic Chopin, Saint-Saens, Ravel and other famous pianists throughout their careers! Founded in 1807, the Pleyel Company recently ended its 200-year history of making outstanding hand-built pianos, when it closed its doors in 2013. Pianists from around the world who love this special piano come to the Scarab Club to give public recitals.
